(01)Overview

A custom e-commerce platform for PBIS LLC's security, POS, networking, and technology product business. The platform was designed around structured product catalogs, responsive shopping experiences, and a scalable WooCommerce-based architecture.

02The brief

PBIS LLC needed an online catalogue and store for security, POS, networking and technology products.

03The approach

A WooCommerce store built around structured product catalogues and a responsive shopping experience.

(04)What I built

Built around how the business actually works.

  1. 01

    Structured product catalogue

  2. 02

    Responsive shopping experience

  3. 03

    Cart and checkout

  4. 04

    Scalable WooCommerce architecture

(05)Systems & hardware

Wired into the real counter, not just the website.

How stock, customers and sales are managed day to day — and the receipt and kitchen printers the system drives.

Stock management

  • Stock levels per SKU with low-stock and out-of-stock alerts
  • Barcode scanning to receive stock and look up products
  • Bulk CSV import and update for products, prices and stock
  • Brand and category structure for cameras, NVRs, POS and networking

Customer management

  • Accounts for home, business, government and law-enforcement buyers
  • Wishlists and saved carts
  • “Call us for bulk pricing” path for trade and volume buyers
  • Order history and invoices in each customer account

Sales management

  • Order workflow with status emails at each step
  • Receipts and packing slips printed on thermal printers
  • Sales reports by product, category and period
  • Coupons and promotions; prices updated quickly when import costs change

Receipt & kitchen printers

PBIS sells and installs POS hardware, so the store also had to work with it: orders print as receipts or wide packing slips on Epson and Star thermal printers, and barcode scanners are used at the counter to find products and receive stock.

Epson

  • TM-U220B Impact (dot-matrix) · 76 mm Kitchen dockets — heat- and grease-tolerant, with red/black ribbon so modifiers and allergy notes stand out.
  • TM-T88III Thermal · 80 mm Customer receipts on existing counter hardware, formatted as ESC/POS.
  • TM-T88IV Thermal · 80 mm Customer receipts and order copies with logo, totals and payment status.
  • TM-T88V Thermal · 80 mm High-speed receipts and kitchen copies with auto-cut.
  • TM-m30II Network thermal · 80 mm Prints new web orders automatically through Epson ePOS / Server Direct Print — no PC needed.

Star Micronics

  • TSP100 Thermal · 80 mm Compact counter receipts and order tickets.
  • TSP743IIU-24 Wide thermal · 112 mm Wide packing slips, invoices and large-format kitchen tickets.
  • TSP650II Thermal · 80 mm Fast receipts and order copies; network models print via Star WebPRNT / CloudPRNT.
  • TSP600 Thermal · 80 mm Legacy counter printers kept in service with ESC/POS-compatible templates.
